Run out controversy between Comilla Victorians and Chittagong Vikings

The first major controversy of this year’s BPL was seen yesterday that involved Comilla Victorians batsman Imrul Kayes, Chittagong Vikings fielder Tilakaratne Dilshan and the three umpires. Tamim the head of the Chittagong Vikings was also present near the two on field umpires.

It was started in the second over when Chittagong Vikings bowler was operating against Imrul Kayes. Kayes nudged a ball towards the point area and tried take a quick single.

It was risky so his partner Ahmad Shahzad refused it and Kayes had to go back. At the same time Dilshan was on the ball and he threw it back towards the stumps at the batting end.

The throw didn’t hit the stumps and as there was no one covering it inside the circle, Kayes found it another opportunity to get his single. Now as he turned back to take the single and Ahmad also looked interested in the second call, Dilshan came running in towards the batting end to cover the stumps.

Kayes had a collision with Dilshan which was not that much effective as Kayes managed to hold his feet but then his foot tangled up with Dilshan’s and this time he went down to the pitch.

Shahzad was already on the move so he made to the batting end. Kayes was still down and out and the Chittagong fielders knocked out the stumps at the bowling end.

Now the fielders thought they got the wicket. Kayes was protesting against the incident and Tamim was calming things up. The matter was taken to the third umpire and after watching replays and analyzing th whole situation the third umpire gave that not out as well as penalized the Chittagong Vikings five runs as per ICC law 42(5).
